Knapsack chemical site
Ceremonius inauguration of silo complex

After a construction period of only eight months, SCHMIDT has erected a new silo complex for its customer Vinnolit at the Knapsack chemical site near Cologne, Germany. The new facility has started operations in late February, 2005, and was ceremoniously inaugurated on 10 May 2005.

The PVC powder product is conveyed through a newly constructed pipeline directly from the Huerth Vinnolit production site into the SCHMIDT silo battery, comprising 28 units for storage and onward consignment by silo trucks. Both economical and environmental benefits are achieved by saving about 2,500 internal truck loads from the production plant to the storage complex.

More than 200,000 tons/year might be handled by the new silo battery. One pipeline conveys more tight PVC powder used for window profiles from production line 1. The other pipeline conveys the PVC powder of production line 2, which is later used for a variety of PVC products.
