Duisburg Harbour:
SCHMIDT and IMPERIAL are Joining Ranks Strategically
Within short, SCHMIDT and IMPERIAL will establish a
joint HUB for dry bulk goods at the Duisburg Rhein-Ruhr Terminal.
During a press conference at the Munich Transport & Logistics Exhibition, the Managing Directors of the cooperation partners made the announcement.
Object of
the cooperation is the acquisition of import and export volumes to be handled, transshipped or stored both in packaged or bulk form.
In this constellation, Duisburg Harbour takes up the function of a hinterland terminal serving both as
an alternative to traditional seaports such as Antwerp and Rotterdam and as a domestic HUB.
On the part of Imperial Logistics International GmbH their subsidiary Rhein-Ruhr-Terminal GmbH (RRT) will handle any and all activities at
the HUB planned as well as pre-transport by barge starting with the take-over of bulk goods from the ZARA ports.
SCHMIDT will handle post-transport by road tanker and containers on rail.
As trimodal „HUB for the Rhine-Ruhr Region“,
Duisburg being the world’s largest inland port and with its optimum traffic infra-structure provides an ideal basis for this strategic alliance.
With this cooperation, synergy effects will be launched the customers will profit from
as much as from the concentrated strength and the decades of experience the participating companies will have at their disposal.
