SCHMIDT’s Largest Silos Installed in Merkenich
In Merkenich near
Cologne/Germany, the 3 largest silos SCHMIDT has ever built have been put into operation for our customer VINNOLIT.
The silos will store S-PVC powder at a capacity of 1200 m³ each, 7.5 m in diameter and 26.5 m high cylinders.
Combined with the support structure, this makes for an impressive total height of 42 m.
The silos had to be welded together on site on their very own assembly premises covering 50 x 60 m, before a 500 t crane could lift them onto a
concrete substructure for installation.
To transport this weight, numerous flatbed trucks and a total of 4 truck-mounted cranes were used.
